A new agent that safely reduces weight has been found

Helmholtz Center Munich: celastrol from traditional Chinese medicine restores leptin sensitivity — mice lose 10% of body weight in a week.

German researchers studied a plant-based ingredient of a medicine from the arsenal of traditional Chinese medicine, which may become a tool for fighting obesity. The Helmholtz Center Munich focused on celastrol. This compound helped significantly reduce weight and improve the condition of obese diabetic mice.

Many people begin to gain weight because their sense of satiety becomes dulled. The reason is that the hormone leptin stops working. The experiment showed that the compound selectively activates certain centers in the brain that play an important role in weight control. In this way, celastrol restores leptin sensitivity and enhances the feeling of satiety.

For example, in obese animals, scientists observed significant changes in eating behavior — they ate much less than usual. The average weight loss was about 10% of body mass per week. Since the leptin hormone is identical in humans and mice, the compound should work in the same way.
