Not everyone manages to lose weight despite following a diet and exercising. British scientists from the University of Bristol link this to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. This condition often progresses without symptoms. It has been diagnosed in one-fifth of the world's adult population.
Doctors note that this disease is rapidly "getting younger," increasingly affecting people in their 20s. In a liver surrounded by fat deposits, metabolic processes proceed abnormally slowly. Slowed metabolism means that sugar and fat cannot be successfully utilized. The result is obesity.
Experts emphasize that with fatty liver disease, it is impossible to lose weight without special therapy. At the same time, the pathological process is difficult to stop — it can all begin with a small weight gain caused by a temporary change in diet. For example, if a person eats fast food for some time, a chain reaction will start in their body.
