The University of Graz conducted an experiment in which scientists observed 30 volunteers following a special diet over four weeks. The participants followed an intermittent fasting regimen.
This eating pattern involves restricting the times at which meals are consumed. There was also a control group whose participants did not change their habits. The volunteers were initially overweight but did not suffer from serious illnesses. After four weeks it was established that volunteers in the main group lost an average of 3.5 kilograms, while those in the control group lost approximately 200 grams.
In addition to weight loss, intermittent fasting helped lower blood pressure, improve metabolism, and increase the concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids in the blood, which reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications. No side effects were recorded.
