Scrotal sonoelastography at Horev Medical

The method helps distinguish an inflammatory infiltrate from a cyst or a solid lesion in the testis/epididymis, as well as assess the degree of fibrosis after past inflammation. Combined with Doppler, we detect varicocele and venous outflow disorders.

When and how

Indications and how it is performed

On the left — reasons for prescription. On the right — the course of the examination.

Indications

When it is prescribed

  • A lump or "ball" in the testicle
  • Pain / heaviness, scrotal enlargement, asymmetry
  • Infertility, suspected varicocele
  • Monitoring after operations, injuries, inflammation
How it is performed

The course of the examination

  • After a standard ultrasound, strain elastography is performed
  • The doctor lightly "pulses" with the probe, and the device builds a stiffness map
  • A point scale helps to judge the nature of the focus
  • Duration 15–20 minutes; no preparation required
Result

Result and limitations

The report describes the distribution of stiffness, the Doppler picture, and the conclusion (benign signs / suspicion, recommendations).

In case of ambiguous findings, a consultation with a urologist and, if indicated, a biopsy are required. The method does not replace histology.
