Morning Workouts Are More Effective, Experiment Shows

University of California: morning workouts activate metabolism more strongly - carbohydrates and fats break down faster than during evening sessions.

It is well known that exercise is beneficial for regulating blood pressure. It can even reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. And recent research from the University of California suggests that exercise helps people with metabolic disorders.

But this only works if a person trains in the morning. Scientists reached this conclusion after analyzing the changes occurring in skeletal muscle metabolism at different times of day using rodents as a model. It turned out that in the morning (not very early), cells absorbed more oxygen and the body's renewal process was activated more strongly. In other words, morning physical activity stimulated metabolism.

In addition, when animals ran in the morning, they used carbohydrates and ketones more actively, and fats and amino acids broke down faster. So the timing of training plays an important role. Compared with evening sessions, morning workouts produce a more pronounced positive effect on metabolic pathways in skeletal muscle and on systemic energy homeostasis.
